Notices - Sunday 4th May 2025

Creche: 11.00am in the upper hall for children up to age 3.

Tweenies in the main hall for children aged 3-5.

Sunday School and Bible Class arrive in church at 11.00 with family, then leave through the side door nearest the hall after children’s address.

Everyone is welcome to the M A Hall after the morning service for a cup of tea or coffee.  Katie Ann and Erica will be serving today.

Monday Toddler Group is on holiday this week.

Monday 5th May at 7.30pm -   Monthly prayer meeting on Zoom.

Tuesday 6th May at 11.00am – Prayer and Update with Muriel.

Tuesday 6th May at 7.30pm – English Prayer Meeting at Laxdale Mission Hall.

Wednesday 7th May at 7.30pm – Bible Study in the M A Hall. We will continue with our study of the five solas of The Reformation.

Thursday 8th May at 7.30pm – Gaelic Prayer Meeting in the Seminary led by Mr Joe Macphee.

Thursday 8th May – Explorers meet in the M A Hall.

Friday 9th May from 2.30pm until 4.00pm – 55+ Fellowship

The speaker that day will be Rev Duncan Macaskill, Carloway Church of Scotland.  The singing will be led by Dan Macphail formerly of our own congregation.

Please remember that the church car park will be available for those attending the meeting.  I hope you will be able to attend and feel free to bring a friend.  If you have never attended, but wonder what the meetings are like, please come along.  There is only one way to find out.

Death

We were very sorry to hear of the passing of Mary Mackenzie, formerly of Inaclete Road.

We especially remember her sisters Nancy and Cathy, both in Inverness, as well as her extended family and friends. We pray that the Lord will continue to comfort and uphold them in the days ahead.

Sunday School Snippet

Today we were learning about the woman who was bent over for 18 years and how Jesus healed her. We were also learning about the hypocrites.

Women for Mission – AGM and Fundraising Lunch

Stornoway WfM will be holding a fundraising lunch on Saturday 17th May in the M A Hall. Donations of soups, puddings and baking as well as help on the day will be much appreciated. There is a sign-up sheet at the doors.

The main WfM committee will be holding its Annual Meeting online afterwards, and those wishing to join are invited to the upper M A Hall at 2.00pm.

Interdenominational Gaelic Service  

Everyone is warmly invited to an interdenominational Gaelic service being held on Friday 9th May at 7.30pm in the Clan MacQuarrie Community Centre, Borve. The service will be conducted by Rev. Hugh M. Stewart, Uig Church of Scotland. Tea and coffee will be served after the service.

All donations will go towards Bethesda. 

Assisted Suicide Bill

The Assisted Dying Bill for Terminally Ill Adults, which was introduced by Liam MacArthur MSP, is currently being considered by the Scottish Parliament.

The Stage One vote on the Bill is now expected to take place on Tuesday 13 May.  

Anyone who wishes to raise their concerns about the Bill are encouraged to access the link below which contains a letter asking your MSP to oppose it.
