Death

We were deeply sorry to hear that Dr Gordon Macleod, formerly of North Street, Sandwick, had passed away. Gordon was a Professor of Human Geography at Durham University.

We extend our sincere and prayerful condolences to his uncles Colin Mackenzie and Norman Macleod, and their spouses Christine and Murdag, as well as to all his first cousins.

We also remember Gordon’s best friend Dave Roberts along with his many other friends and work colleagues. May they all know God’s comfort.

Sunday School Snippet

As well as learning about the 6th commandment today, the children had another task.

“Today in Bible Class we were choosing ways to spend money that we’ve collected for Blythswood.  We split into two groups, and we had £50 each to spend.  We looked at different ways to spend our money and we chose: feed 40 children X 2, train 3 teachers, give a child a month of daily nutritious meals and more!”

Christian Institute Autumn Week of Prayer – 13th-19th November 2022

Sunday 13th – Our Leaders

The authorities that exist have been established by God (Romans 13:1). They are God’s servants (v6). We should pray for them.

Pray first “for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” 1 Timothy 2:2

Monday 14th – Religious Liberty

Christians should not be barred from sharing the Gospel or subjected to online censorship.

“Pray…that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ.” Colossians 4:3

Tuesday 15th – Our Schools

School should be a place where Christians are free to talk about their beliefs.

“…let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven,” Matthew 5:16

Wednesday 16th – Sanctity of Life

Human life is precious because we are made in God’s image.

“…your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalm 139:16

Thursday 17th – Gender Ideology

Transgenderism seeks to destroy the God-given distinction between men and women.

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27

Friday 18th – Our Society

Our secular society is desperate to move people away from God’s good instructions for his world.

“…seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosler.” Jeremiah 29:7

Saturday 19th – The Christian Institute

We greatly value your prayers for our work and for all of our staff in the UK.

“Pray…that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the Gospel. Ephesians 6:19
