Sunday Bus Service
The Sunday Bus Service has been operating in various forms over many years and provides a much appreciated opportunity for many in the congregation to attend church services who would not otherwise be able to do so.  As a congregation we are greatly indebted to the loyal pool of volunteer drivers, helpers and marshals who have kept the service going over the years.  However, with the passage of time some are no longer able to continue which leaves those who remain being on the rota much more frequently.

At the most recent meeting of the Deacons’ Court it was agreed to inform the congregation with a view to expanding the pool of volunteers. Those interested in helping as drivers will need to have a valid MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) certificate or be willing to undergo training towards one. MiDAS training is not onerous and is engagingly designed to advance driving standards and promote the safe operation of minibuses. Training is done locally by STARAN and is open to drivers over 21 years of age who have a clean driving licence and at least two years driving experience. The costs will be met by the Deacons’ Court.

Helpers and marshals are integral to the safe operation of the service. A helper is required to assist passengers as they access and exit the minibus, and the marshal’s role is to assist with the safe manoeuvring of the minibus within the precincts of the church.

Anyone in the congregation who is able to assist with this important feature of our congregational life is encouraged to give it prayerful and serious consideration.  If you would like to volunteer as a driver, helper or marshal, or to discuss any aspect of this further, please speak to Donald Macleod (Church Bus Service coordinator) on 706171, or any of the office-bearers.

Finally, passengers (all those over 14 years of age) are reminded that they are responsible for ensuring that seat belts are securely worn and that they remain seated while the minibus is travelling.

Office closed
The church office will be closed until Friday 5th July as Mairianne is on annual leave. Please forward items for the bulletin to Lorraine Shewan [email protected]. Thank you.

Free Breakfast @ The Free Church - Heb Celt Breakfast Outreach
Volunteers are needed for our annual “Free Breakfast @ The Free Church” outreach event on the Sunday morning after the Hebridean Celtic Festival.  The M. A. Macleod Memorial Hall will be open from 8:30am – 10:30am on Sunday 21st July 2019 to provide a free breakfast for anyone who wants one.  It is a wonderful experience to share the love of Jesus in a practical way, as well as sometimes being able to share a little of the Good News.  There are free Bibles and Gospels available for whoever wants to take one, and all are invited to stay for our morning service although there is absolutely no obligation or pressure to do so.

Would you like to help? Can you…
wash dishes?
make small talk with strangers?
go supermarket shopping?
invite people to come and sit with you in church?
help make a bacon and egg roll?
help set up tables and chairs on the Saturday?
speak another language (apart from Gaelic)?
pour cups of tea?

If you would like to be involved, please speak to Peigi Maclennan or email the church office  [email protected]
