Christian Bookshop 70 Years

On Friday 24th September, the Stornoway Christian Bookshop will have been open for 70 years.

As we celebrate this great milestone, we plan to have a week of special offers and discounts, particularly on books, to show our appreciation for our loyal customers, starting on Monday 20th September.

On Friday 24th, we will celebrate with cake and each customer who spends £20.00 will receive a free book. Please come along so we can share this special event with you.

We look forward to seeing you during our anniversary celebrations. Surprise treats for children too!

Saturday 25th September - Generation Vision Weekend

Please join us for our annual Vision Conference on Saturday 25th September, at St Columba’s Free Church, Edinburgh, 9.30am.

This year we welcome Scott Thomas, Executive Pastor of Immanuel Church, Nashville as our main speaker who will be talking about Healthy Leadership.

We will host three seminars:

Pioneer Mission (Alan McWilliam)

Church in Hard Places (Andy Constable)

Being a Church Planting Church (Derek Lamont)

We hope the talks and seminars will stimulate your desire to lead well as a Christian, share your faith and make Jesus known. We also hope to celebrate what God is doing within the Church and prepare for what He will do. We would love for you to join us!

Thanks for Contributions to Church Funds

Our Deacons’ Court thanks most sincerely all who regularly contribute to the funds of the church whether it’s by cash donations in the collection plate, freewill offering envelopes, Standing Order, BACS transfer or by cheque.  Your generous support is much appreciated as we endeavour as a congregation and as a denomination to reach our cities, our towns, and our rural communities with the gospel in very challenging times.

Preparations will soon be underway for issuing the freewill offering envelopes for 2022.  If anyone is interested in beginning to contribute by envelopes you should contact one of the office-bearers for your district who will arrange for a pack to be delivered to your home.   If you prefer, you can contact Duncan N Macleod, Freewill Offering Envelope Coordinator, on 01851 860 418 or 07787973802 or by email to:

[email protected]

If you would prefer to contribute by regular Standing Order, you should speak to one of the office-bearers or to Murdo Macphail, Congregational Treasurer, on 01851 705445.

If you are a UK taxpayer and contribute regularly by envelopes or by Standing Order, you can increase your contribution by a further 25% simply by registering for Gift Aid.  There is no additional cost to you whatsoever, neither will you be asked to disclose details of your personal finances.  The reclaim is done on your behalf from income tax you have already paid.  Gift Aid forms can be uplifted in the foyers of the church and the Seminary.
